Hedge Funds Make First Gains Since February

Preqin study highlights that the hedge fund industry has made its first positive monthly gains since February, posting average fund returns of 1.25% throughout May.

Emerging markets funds stood out as the top performers in May, posting their largest average monthly return since January 2013 (+2.91%). Event driven funds made the smallest gain in May, but the strategy remains the best performing for the year-to-date. Activist funds followed April’s loss with their eighth gain in nine months and their best month since October.
