Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) announced that it is adding more than one thousand new jobs at its Oakville Assembly plant in Canada.

Ford accelerates Oakville Assembly plant transformation

The automaker is increasing its workforce at the Oakville Assembly as it accelerates its transformation to become one of Canada’s most competitive and advanced global manufacturing plants.

Last year, the automaker invested C$700 million to expand the manufacturing capability of the Oakville Assembly plant to the growing global demand for its vehicles.

Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) wants to manufacture vehicles with best-in-class quality, fuel efficiency, smart design and value. The new Edge utility vehicle will be produced at the Oakville Assembly plant, and it will be exported to more than 100 countries around the world

2015 Ford Edge sets a new standard

In a statement, Joe Hinrichs, president, The Americas unit at Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) said, the new jobs added to the plant will strengthen the automaker’s investment in Canada. It will also increase it capabilities as it prepares for the vehicle launchings of the company.

According to him, “The new 2015 Ford Edge sets a new standard in its class and will show countries around the world Canadian quality at its best.”

On the other hand, Ford of Canada president and CEO Dianne Craig said, “Investment in auto manufacturing pays off, and Oakville Assembly is proof of that. Not only is the investment helping us meet much-needed capacity for high demand products produced in Canada, it’s creating jobs. It is a proud time at Ford of Canada as we welcome new employees to our team.”

By the end of the year, Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) will have more than 4,000 employees at the plant. Aside from the Ford Edge, the Oakville Assembly plant is also manufacturing the Flex and the Lincoln MKX and MKT vehicles.

Canada welcomes Ford’s latest round of hiring

Canada’s Federal Industry Minister James Moore said the government welcomes the latest round of hiring of Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) at its Oakville Assembly Plant. In addition, he said they are committed to strengthening the country’s economy while creating high-quality jobs.

“The federal investment in the Oakville Assembly plant has helped transform it into a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and one of Ford’s most advanced facilities globally. It demonstrates once again that Canada is a great place to build cars,” said Moore.
