Facebook Launches New Faster Apple iOS App

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) is ready to introduce a new Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iOS application for iPad and iPhone users. The new app is actually an update and unlike some iOS updates,  this one is a major improvement.

The makers behind the app say it was built from the ground up, and that it’s much faster than the previous version of the apps. This new app features native elements from the, iOS which makes it easier to scroll down and allows you to instantly interact with your photos.  The content loads faster and notifications register faster, which means users won’t have to manually refresh the page for new updates. Facebook’s new app for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) devices also makes it easier to view photos, all you have to do is tap on the image to open it up.

This update has been the first since April 2nd. The main reason why Facebook created and launched this app, was because the previous versions were extremely sluggish. The company’s senior executives even acknowledged this fact. The director of products for Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), Peter Deng, claimed, “We are a mobile first company… every single app we are building now starts with mobile.”   They are putting mobile technology ahead of their original website.

As the leader of social media websites and mobile applications, you would think that Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) would have created a better app a long time ago. But it’s better late than never I guess.

The Next Web highlighted that Facebook has over 543 million monthly active users who utilize their mobile services. As of June of this year, Facebook is supported by over 7,000 different mobile devices, including smartphones and tablet computers.

With this new shift and their acquisition of Instagram earlier this year, there really is no telling what the company has next. I assume it won’t be long until they create a series of Facebook apps, including a photograph sharing app (part of their Instagram buy-up).
