In March, Diesel first announced its “On” smartwatch collection, and now almost five months later, it has launched the first product in that collection. The smartwatch is called the Diesel On Full Guard, and as of now, it is available only at Macy’s.

The Diesel On Full Guard has impressive features

The Diesel On Full Guard features a black case and quick release brown leather band. The smartwatch carries a price tag of $325 and will be available on Diesel’s online shop starting on September 25, although customers in the U.K. will have to wait until October 14 for the watch’s arrival. More variants of the watch are also expected to be available in the U.S. in September. It is not known if the other variants will also have the same name.

The upcoming variants are expected to have cosmetic changes only. Two of them will have black leather bands, one will come with a black metal band, and the last one will sport a gold metal band. All will be powered by a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor and have IP67 water resistance, a 48mm case and battery backup lasting for a day.

Talking of the current model, the Diesel On Full Guard, includes a large 48mm case and a 1.4-inch display with a 454 x 454 resolution. The watch comes with 4GB of storage, 512MB of RAM, a relatively small battery at 370mAh, and IP67 water resistance. One possible drawback is that it does not sport a heart rate sensor, GPS, or NFC.

The absence of these features may disappoint users, but the company has tried to compensate with software enhancements via its Diesel T-ON-I smartwatch app. Diesel T-ON-I stands for Time, Organizing, Notification and Intelligence. With this, the company has tried to enhance the Android Wear experience. For instance, one of the functionalities virtually cracks the screen when you get a notification. So the more notifications the wearer receives, the more virtual cracks appear. Another interesting functionality fogs the screen up based on the amount of time you are inactive, notes Wareable.

“There are a few fancy things coming with the Diesel On Full Guard, like an iridescent effect that changes the watchface’s color as you twist your hand around as if light was hitting the glass in different ways, a dust animation when you haven’t moved in a while, and weather animations on top of your watchface,” says AndroidPolice.

Many more offerings coming from Fossil Group

In addition to the Diesel brand, Fossil Group will be announcing wearables under its other brands also, including Emporio Armani, Fossil, Michael Kors and Misfit. At IFA in Berlin, the group announced that it has partnered with Google to develop stylish Android 2.0 wearables. Emporio Armani already entered the smartwatch market last year with a hybrid device.

The Emporio Armani Connected is its first Android 2.0 wearable powered by a Snapdragon 2100 processor. The watch will go on sale September 11 for around $300. The company also plans to launch its Michael Kors Access touchscreen smartwatches worldwide on September 25.

According to Fossil, hybrid watches from brands such as Michael Kors, MICHELE, Misfit, Armani Exchange, Chaps, Emporio Armani, Fossil, kate spade new york, Marc Jacobs, Relic, Skagen, Diesel, DKNY, and Tory Burch will be launched later this year.  By the end of this year, Fossil Group will have launched over 300 Connected watch models under 14 brand names, notes Techspot.
