Columbine High School in the Denver, Colo. is one of several schools in lockout at this time after someone phoned in a threat to the high school. The term “lockout” basically means that classes are able to continue inside the school but that the perimeter of the campus is closed. A spokesperson for the school district said all students and personnel at Columbine are safe and that police are investigating the threat.

A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said deputies are around area schools as a precaution. According to the Jefferson County Public School Twitter page: some of the other area schools which are on lockout along with Columbine High School right now include: Columbine Hills, Dutch Creek, Governor’s Ranch, Leawood, Normandy Elementaries and Ken Caryl Middle.
