Most people spend a lot of time web browsing today, but sometimes web browsers develop problems. Google’s web browser Chrome currently enjoys 61.9% of the web browser market share, and people like it because it just ‘works’. However, some people have complained that their Chrome web browser has become slow and they can’t figure out the problem. Here are a few tips for people experiencing problems with Chrome.

Speeding up Google Chrome

Whenever some programs start taking long time to load, experts usually point the fingers at the operating system or an aging computer. Sometimes, however, it’s actually the program or app that is the culprit. In the case of Chrome, it might launch quickly, but in some tasks like when you open a new tab, there is a delay of a few seconds before the screen fully resolves. To tackle this situation and to speed up your web browsing experience using Chrome, here are a few suggestions of things to check:

  • Are other browsers such as Mozilla Firefox running with no problems? If the answer is yes, then problem is most probably associated only with Chrome and not with your OS or hardware.
  • Are you running a whole lot of extensions? Try disabling them one by one and see if that makes a difference in your performance.
  • Lastly, here’s a small tweak that you need to try on your Chrome. Click on the Menu button of your browser and then go to Settings.

Scroll down and click on “Show advanced settings,” and then scroll down again until you find the “System” section.

From here, uncheck “Use hardware acceleration when available.” Now, exit Chrome and restart your computer.
