BlackBerry Priv On T-Mobile? Maybe

Updated on

BlackBerry shares an odd kind of relationship with T-Mobile. The partnership between the two came to a bitter end last year. T-Mobile seemed to have a change of heart a few months ago when it encouraged BlackBerry users to come back. Now it may even carry the latest Android device from the Canadian firm.

BlackBerry Priv on T-mobile?

There could be a large number of people who prefer using T-Mobile’s network but weren’t happy with the fact that the company wouldn’t be carrying the BlackBerry Priv. T-Mobile has some good news for these people. A representative from the company, in a statement to BlackBerry OS, said the phone could arrive on T-Mobile’s network as it has not completely ruled out the possibility.

“The Priv is not available at T-Mobile at this time, however we do partner closely with all OEM’s, including BlackBerry, to continually evaluate and adjust our portfolio,” the executive said.

The representative added that as of now, the company does not have news to share, but it has always supported the concept of “bring your own device” and welcomes all people interested in purchasing the unlocked device for use on T-Mobile’s network.

Priv fully compatible with T-Mobile

Until now, AT&T is the only carrier that has made an official announcement that it will carry the BlackBerry Priv. Still, any user who plans to buy the unlocked device should not face any issues using it on T-Mobile as the Priv is be fully compatible with the carrier’s network, according to Mike Sievert.

Previously, there was a tweet from @TMobileHelp that said the carrier won’t carry the Priv device, but recently Mike Sievert said it is not true and explained that the carrier does not carry the Priv at present. People who do not have enough patience to wait to find out whether or not T-Mobile will sell the BlackBerry Priv can preorder an unlocked unit for $699 straightaway.

The BlackBerry Priv comes with a 5.4-inch AMOLED display with curved edges and a Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and 543ppi. This puts it in the same category as a few other top-tier Android devices like LG’s G4 and Samsung’s Galaxy S6. The device is equipped with a 1.8GHz 64-bit hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. It boasts a powerful 3410mAh battery, which the Canadian firm claims can give you 22 hours of calling.
