It’s been 30 years since Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) debuted their first Mac computer. As a way to pay homage to the company’s first successful device, Apple filmed a video of Mac users from around the world completely filmed on the iPhone.
New video celebrates Mac
The video features clips of Mac users around the world. In the video, we see designers, researchers, inventors, musicians, and students. There is a follow-up page explaining that the footage was shot on one day (January 24th) and 15 camera crews traveled around the world to shoot over 70 hours of footage on the iPhone 5S. The director of the project was Jake Scott (son of director Ridley Scott).
Recode’s Ina Fried added, “But its biggest anniversary project was one done in secret. The company spent the actual day of the anniversary — January 24 — making a short movie. Filmed in 10 countries on five continents (over 36 hours, given the time differences), the movie focuses on all of the things people are doing with Apple products. It was filmed entirely on iPhones and edited over the past week — on Macs, of course. The video, which debuts on Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s website Monday, begins by proclaiming that the Mac was introduced 30 years ago with the promise to “put technology in the hands of the people.”

Apple’s decision not to air the ad during Super Bowl
The new video was posted online instead of playing it during last night’s Super Bowl game. In the end, it was a better choice as the company’s leading rival Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) paid a hefty sum to have their ad played during the fourth quarter. Other companies to air ads during this key event included T-Mobile, GoDaddy, and Sonos.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) holds an intrinsic part of history. The tech giant has always brought forth innovation to the table. Whether it’s the traditional Mac desktop computer or specialized applications for mobile devices, the iPhone maker has paved the way to success. There aren’t too many tech companies that can boast the same level of success Apple can.
