Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) hopes one day that iPad users will be able to charge their tablets with just a SmartCover.
The Cupertino-based company filed another patent application with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. This particular patent is dubbed Integrated Inductive Charging in Protective Cover.
The patent application summed it up with the following, “The protective cover can include an inductive power transmitter that can take many forms such as inductive coils. The inductive coils can, in turn, receive power from an external power supply. In some cases, however, the protective cover can include an internal source of power such as a battery that can be used to store power that can subsequently be passed to the tablet device by way of the inductive power transfer circuit.”
This SmartCover charger will reportedly be made with inductive power coils and a battery. It would work by using the built-in magnets and would align with the iPad, which would still need to be plugged into the outlet.
There have been numerous rumors of wireless charger for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) products. If this patent becomes a real product, there is no doubt that Apple will create something similar for the iPhone.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is working hard to make sure they can enhance their brand and product. A wireless charger would certainly keep them ahead of the game and perhaps change the current mobile gadget accessory market.
In other Apple news, Phil Schiller shared his harsh thoughts regarding the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S4. He first told the Wall Street Journal that Androids are usually given as a replacement phone but the devices are never as good as an iPhone. Later on, he told Reuters that most Android users are using out-of-date software.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s hard feelings for their competition is really starting to show but how and if the attitude will affect their company will remain to be seen.
