Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) announced a promotion on Monday for its online stores in the U.S., offering free next-day shipping on all iPhone models and a timely delivery of all items.
According to Apple Insider, All iPhone shoppers visiting the company’s store page will get to see all iPhone models available for free next-day delivery. The next-day offer may be a limited time promotion, though Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) already offers free shipping across its online store for orders in excess of $50.
This is not the first time Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) offered a free next day shipping to all iPhone shoppers; the company has been known to kick off holiday promotions like this before.
The next-day promotion applies to all iPhone models, but is limited to the purchase of two iPhones per customer.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may have timed the new promotion in line with the most-awaited launch of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) flagship product Galaxy S4 and HTC Corp (TPE:2498) One. A “Why iPhone” web campaign has been recently launched by Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to combat the launch of the two big flagship Android smartphones.
Since the iPhone 5 is also amidst its product cycle, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may be using the free next-day shipping as an extra incentive to boost its sales. Next day shipping might be enough to tip prospective buyers who were thinking about waiting for the next model.
The company sold a record 47.8 million iPhones last quarter. However, a sequential drop in the sales is anticipated during the March quarter. It appears that the anticipated drop in the sale may also have been one of the reasons Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) decided to time this promotion.
