Apple phablet to give tough competition to rivals

Yahoo! Japan reported that iPhone phablet could be unveiled sometime in May and would be the first Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) product in fiscal 2014. The same report suggested that the iPhone 6 would be released in September.

It is expected that the iPhone maker is trying to unveil a device that would directly compete against the phablet series of Samsung and other rivals. Two phablet that would give intense competition to the iPhone phablet would be the Samsung Galaxy Note series and the HTC One Max.

Reports from other sources such as Chinese website C Technology citing Foxconn sources and NPD DisplaySearch also suggest the same information. According to website C Technology, two phones would make their debuts this year, out of which one would be have a 4.7 inch screen and another a 5.7 inch display, or bigger. NPD DisplaySearch noted that Apple might launch the iPhone 6 in two versions.

Though Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has not revealed anything officially, its chief executive announced that Apple has “big plans” this year.

Rumored features for iPhone 6

Some attributes that are rumored to be present in the upcoming iPhone are a bigger screen display, an A8 processor and iOS8. Additionally, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) might use a sapphire glass covering to give more strength to the device. Recently, a patent surfaced that suggests the upcoming iPhone might be curved or flexible with a durable material called liquid metal, and might have a refocusable light camera along with an enhanced Siri, as well as gesture control.

The upcoming iPhone may have a fingerprint sensor similar to the iPhone 5S, but a wide range of reports suggest that the security portion might be a step further as Apple is planning to embed an eye scanner.

Weibo, the largest social networking site in China, published a report from The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg saying that the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has begun the process of testing prototypes of larger display iPhones that would be probably unveiled in the second half of 2014.
