On the October 23rd Media Event, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) surprised everyone by announcing the fourth generation of iPad. We expected that Apple might do a few minor changes, like including a Lightning dock connector and adding an efficient battery, but instead of doing these changes, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) introduced to us, a whole new generation of iPad termed as fourth generation.
As we know, the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) launched the third generation iPad (known as new iPad) in March, just like everyone expected. But now the third generation iPad will become obsolete, as Apple has announced fourth generation iPad, just around six months after the iPad 3.
Many of the most well-known hedge fund managers in the world engage in philanthropy, and in doing so, they often reveal their favorite hedge funds through a review of their foundation's public filings. Bill Ackman's Pershing Square Foundation invested in several hedge funds during the fiscal years that ended in September 2019 and September 2020.
But now, according to CNET, it looks like Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) could offer a free upgrade to anybody whose device is 30 days old or less. At this time, it’s not confirmed that all Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) stores will be offering the free upgrade, but it appears that Stockton Street store in San Francisco is offering the owners of third generation of iPads, the option to swap their devices with the new fourth generation of iPad.
Surely this is a good news for those who have brought the product in the last 30 days, but for those who have not brought their iPad under this period will start complaining. They might even feel cheated.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may have made this decision to launch the fourth generation of iPad to cash-in during this holiday season. But by launching the iPad at this time, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has cut down the iPad 3’s shelf life down by nearly half a year. Now that’s not a fair decision, and many people will agree to this.
For now we don’t know how many stores are replacing iPad 3 with iPad 4. It’s better to give your local Apple Store a call and find out. Who knows, perhaps you might be lucky to get a free upgrade.
