Interestingly enough, it’s not exactly clear if it was Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) that modified the article, which points out all the negative possibilities that could come from jailbreaking your device. Such problems include security issues, shorter battery life, service disruption, unreliable voice and data, and problems with applying future software updates.

Although jailbreaking is now considered legal, it’s still considered unethical by many companies including Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL).  The full warning explains that iOS products such as the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad are meant to work as is and that any jailbreak modifications can interfere with the system. They added, “Apple strongly cautions against installing any software that hacks iOS. It is also important to note that unauthorized modification of iOS is a violation of iOS end-user license agreement and because of this, Apple may deny service for an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch that has installed any unauthorized software.”

We first reported about the evasion hack from a group called “Evad3ers”. They released a new hack for iOS 6.1 last Monday and a record number of iOS users downloaded the jailbreak on their device.  The Evade3ers website also has a list of jailbreak websites users can download from.

In the article, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) reminded users that jailbreaking can sometimes mess up the device and make it useless.

Even though it’s perfectly legal to jailbreak smartphones like the iPhone, although a recent DCMA expiration won’t allow some users to unlock their phone just to join another carrier. It is still illegal to jailbreak the iPad and other tablet computers.
