Apple alerts users of iCloud Mail outage

According to the detailed timeline on the official Apple website, the outage started a little before 12:00 pm eastern standard time. This outage affects some users. Last month, Apple’s iCloud Mail service went down, although it affected a small number of users, the outage lasted 18 hours. When the affected users tried to access their email, they would receive a message that said, “Cannot Get Mail: iCloud is currently unavailable.” Apple also posted a message acknowledging the outage on it’s official website. At press time, the email service is still down. Apple will likely keep iCloud mail users in the loop of the matter and give users an update regarding the outage.

iCloud Mail is a free service that lets iOS users send and receive emails across mobile devices and computers.

Apple enhances iCloud services

Just a few days ago, Apple notified developers of ongoing maintenance for iCloud Drive. The notes were sent out to AppleSeed members and it reminded developers that the company was testing out OS X 10.10 Yosemited Developer Preview builds. This routinely conducts system backups while iCloud services become temporarily unavailable during development.

iCloud Drive was initially introduced in June. It is a multi-platform service that is expected to roll out with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite. It will enable users to save, sync, and obtain files from iCloud. The program will work with OS X, iOS, and Windows.

Apple will also launch pricing for the new iCloud service for customers as well as CloudKit for developers. The latter service is nearly free, it offers data transfer allowances and asset storage space.
