‘Angry Birds 2’ Now Available Worldwide

Rovio has rolled out Angry Birds 2 for iOS and Android. The sequel offers more of the same fun catapulting groups of birds directly at groups of pigs. Each level offers multiple stages with unique details and exciting adventures. The game also features spells such as hot chili peppers, blizzards, and magic ducks to pop the pigs. Angry Birds 2 also allows players to challenge other players throughout the world.

Angry Birds 2 brings a new character to the game

The sequel features a new character named Silver, a fun-loving bird rescued from Pig City which acquired porcine habits that make her a valuable member of the bird clan. Character favorites Bomb, Chuck, and Red also make a return.

Rovio co-founder Niklas Hed said game design technologies have dramatically improved since the initial game launched six years ago. He explained, “With Angry Birds 2 we wanted to bring a level of expressive depth and detail seen previously only in a console game or animated series – and create a new game that kids and adults alike won’t be able to put down. Angry Birds 2 doubles down on the core tenets of the original that our fans loved: destruction and more destruction!”

Angry Birds 2 now allows players to purchase gems

Angry Birds 2 makes a key change by allowing players a three-life maximum. After they reach the maximum number, they need to use 60 “gems” or wait half an hour to replenish lives. Players can purchase the gems with a credit/debit card or can earn the virtual currency throughout the game. British game maker King offers a similar tactic with its popular game Candy Crush.

Rovio’s creative director, Patrick Liu, said they wanted to make the game fair for players who spend real money on gems and give them more value. At the same time, they want to give players complete access to the game without making them feel the need to spend money.
