We all have those days where it’s almost impossible to focus on work. You’ve got deadlines, you know the work needs to be done, but all motivation and focus to get the work done has been sapped from your body, you just sit there staring at the work something akin to a zombie. It’s not really surprising, we live in an age with a million and one distractions, in a multitude of different forms and varying levels of interaction. Whether it’s in the office or at home, sometimes there are just too many distractions that interrupt our focus.

If you’re able to perform some mid-day exercises, the endorphins released during exercise can help clear your mind, as well as improving the prioritising functions of our brain, helping to block out distractions and improve concentration.

One of the most important tips for keeping focused if you find your phone constantly in hand, turn off your social media notifications and keep phone calls short and concise. Try to keep a to-do list, prioritising your to-do list by working on the most challenging jobs for the beginning of the morning when you’re at your most productive, concentrate on ticking one piece off at a time and reward yourself for the jobs you manage to tick off, whether it’s something as simple as a quick tea or coffee break.
