Mario Gabelli graduated with a BA from Fordham University and an MBA from Columbia Business School. He began his career as a security analyst at Loeb, Rhoades &Co. and started a method for analyzing a firm to calculate its “private-market value”, which was later trademarked as “The Gabelli Private Market Value with a Catalyst Methodology”. Mario founded GAMCO Investors in 1997 and was subsequently named Morningstar’s “Portfolio Manager of the Year”, one of Barron’s “All Star Century Team”, and Institutional Investor’s “Money Manager of the Year”. Mario serves on the board of Boston College, Roger Williams, Columbia University Graduate School of Business, The American-Italian Cancer Foundation, and The Foundation for Italian Art & Culture.
