How To Upload A Facebook Profile Video [GUIDE]

Updated on

Facebook is rolling out a number of new features to its mobile app, all aimed at making your profile more attractive. One of the new features is the ability to create a profile video to replace your old boring profile photo.

So what’s a Facebook profile video? As the name suggests, with this new feature, you can set up a seven second video which will serve as your profile video. It will play in a loop, just like Vine, and in order to setup a profile video you need to be using Facebook’s mobile app.

How to setup a profile video on Facebook

Setting up a profile video is very easy. On Facebook’s iOS app, tap on the More button at the lower-right corner, and then tap on your name which will open your profile page.

Next, tap on your Profile picture and then choose either “Take a New Profile Video” or “Upload Video or Photo.” If you choose the first option, then you can record a new video along with the audio for 7 seconds or less time. If you choose the latter option, then you will need to select a video that’s seven seconds or less. For now, the app doesn’t let you trim down a longer video to fit as your profile video.

Once you upload a video, you can then select a thumbnail from the video as your profile picture. This thumbnail picture will show up in News Feed, and when people visit your profile, they will be able to see your profile video.

Apart from this feature, Facebook also added the option to add a short bio to your profile, and also you can select up to five featured photos that will appear on the mobile version of your profile. These photos will be showcased at the top of your profile. Facebook will also be rolling out the ability to set a temporary version of your profile picture that reverts back to your previous profile picture at a specified time. Note that these new features are being gradually rolled out across the globe.
