With the holiday season on the horizon, consumers are already seeking out the best Black Friday deals. It is only a couple of weeks until this date which signals shopping paradise, and all manner of bargains will be available for people all over the United States.
The technology market is no exception to this rule, in fact there are as many good deals to be picked up in the tech niche as in any other field. Major manufacturers such as Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:0059935) love to discount their devices over the Black Friday weekend, and 2014 should provide another raft of fantastic buying opportunities for mobile device fans from all four corners of the nation.
Black Friday deals for iPhone 6, Galaxy Note 4
Many consumers with an eye for a Black Friday deal will be looking toward the Apple iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4. These are two of the most coveted smartphones on the market, with two models of iPhone available, the larger of which – the iPhone 6 Plus – is intended to be a direct rival to the phablet-sized Galaxy Note 4.
The high demand associated with both of these premium mobile devices has ensured that availability has been compromised in recent weeks. Both devices have been difficult to locate in both carrier and retail stores, and the notion of a discount has been a fanciful one.
However, there will definitely be bargains available for both of these handsets in the Black Friday sales, as Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) has already announced that it will offer a discount on both devices when consumers sign up for a new two-year contract with Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ).
In order to make yourself eligible for the target deal, it is first necessary to logon to the Target Cartwheel Page and sign in, using a Google, Facebook or Target account. You will then be prompted to add the red bar on the left-hand side of the screen.
Although Target has allowed this deal to apply to the newest handsets, and doubtless many consumers will take advantage of it to get their hands on Galaxy Note 4 and iPhone 6 units, it is not limited to these two particular models. In fact, Target is applying the deal to all Verizon phones carried at the store, including all the Apple and Samsung models, such as the Galaxy S5 and earlier iPhone iterations. If neither Samsung nor apple particularly tickles your fancy, then you could opt for devices developed by Motorola, LG and many other manufacturers.
To take advantage of the Target deal, you first have to visit the Target Cartwheel Page and sign in, using a Google, Facebook or Target account. Then click on the red “add” bar on the left. The 20 percent deal is actually available on all Verizon phones carried at the store, including older Apple and Samsung models, and phones produced by Motorola, LG and other manufacturers.
There are a few other deals knocking about for both of these devices as well. Sam’s Club is offering a discount on the iPhone 6 which has been set at $100. However, there is a relatively limited supply available for this deal, and it is also worth bearing in mind that you needed to be a member of the Sam’s Club in order to be eligible for this particular bargain.
Wal-Mart slashes iPhone 6 price
The massive retailer Wal-Mart is also slashing the price of the iPhone 6. The big box retail store has already reduced the price of the Apple handset by $20, and also offering buyers a $75 gift card with all purchases. Given the popularity of the holiday shopping season, Wal-Mart has already announced that it will lengthen its Black Friday period to five days, giving consumers ample opportunity to take advantage of these eye-catching iPhone 6 bargains.
Another Samsung device that will doubtless attract a lot of attention when the holiday season rolls round is the Galaxy Note Edge. This brand new mobile from the Korean manufacturer is notable for featuring curved edges on its display panel, in a design which is redolent of Samsung’s range of curved televisions. Not only does this make it a striking looking device, but Samsung has also included unique functionality in the curved edges of the screen.
Having already assessed this device previously, it is debatable whether the extra features actually justify the increased pricing of the Galaxy Note 4, but with a discount offered too, it could suddenly become a more viable option. Of course, if you particularly have your eye on the Galaxy Note Edge and aren’t concerned about the price, then this won’t be such an issue, but it will still be worth picking one up without paying a premium.
Galaxy Note Edge to be free?
Samsung is almost certain to offer bundled deals with contracts for the Galaxy over the holiday season, and this could bring the cost of the phone down significantly. Last year, Best Buy offered the Galaxy S4 4G LTE for free with a contract, while other Samsung mobiles went on sale for $200 less than usual price. It seems pretty unlikely that the Galaxy Note Edge will be given away for free given its hefty price tag, and the fact that it is brand new technology. But Samsung might hope to really shift a vast number of units and make the price, or lack of one, a real incentive for consumers.
All in all, consumers seeking Apple and Samsung deals will be spoiled for choice once more when the holiday season finally arrives.
