The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a statement on the plane crash at Wichita’s Mid-Continent Airport. The statement reads:
“Just before 10 a.m. Central Time, the pilot of a twin-engine Beechcraft King Air reported losing engine power just after takeoff from Wichita Mid-Continent Airport. The aircraft crashed into a building on airport property while attempting to return to the runway.”
FAA investigators are on the scene of the crash, and officials have notified the National Transportation Safety Board. The plane the crashed was en-route to Arkansas.
So far local media are reporting that at least one person is in very critical condition and ten others are unaccounted for after the plane crash. KSN’s reporter said he saw two ambulances leaving the scene, with one running lights and siren, and two more ambulances at the scene. A medical helicopter is also said to be on the scene. The roof of the two-story flight safety building may have collapsed, according to witnesses. Reporters on the scene also said that part of the building caught fire after the crash.
The airport’s runways are still open to commercial aircraft. Local media reports that no flights have been delayed or canceled so far.

At least ten people may be trapped after an airport building in Wichita, Kansas was struck by a plane. Emergency responders are on the scene at Mid-Continent Airport. According to KAKE-TV, the plane crashed into the airport’s flight safety building. Witnesses reported that smoke could be seen miles away.
The plane has been identified by local media as a King. It’s unclear how many people were on board the plane or whether anyone has been injured.
