Bloomberg TV reports that an expert states that the apparent shooting down of the Malaysian Airlines plane was most likely a mistake. Ukrainian officials say separatists fired the missile that shot down the passenger jet. According to Interfax, the plane had been flying at a cruising altitude of 10,000 meters.

Malaysian Airlines has confirmed via Twitter that it lost contact with flight MH17 from Amsterdam and that “the last known position was over Ukrainian airspace.” There are reports now from Interfax that the Malaysian Airlines plane was taken down by a ground-to-air missile. Reuters reports that a spokesperson for Boeing hasn’t heard about the crash or whether the plane was shot down and that he can’t confirm it.

Bloomberg TV reports that Gerashchenko claims Ukrainian rebels shot down the Malaysian Airlines plane. Interfax reports that the Ukrainian Interior Ministry advisor said all 280 passengers and 15 crew members died in the crash.

Interfax is the one reporting that the Malaysian Airlines plane that crashed near the Ukraine – Russia border was actually shot down. The Russian website cites “a law enforcement source.” Flightstats, a website that tracks flights, said the Malaysian Airlines flight en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur did not make it to its destination. A map shows that that aircraft appears to be located  along Ukraine’s border with Russia.

Ukrainian officials claim “terrorists” took down the Malaysian Airlines passenger jet. The plane crashed just north of Torez in the Donetsk area, according to Ukrainian media. Currently pro-Russia separatists who are battling Ukraine’s army control the area. Earlier this month, Ukraine’s State Aviation Administration closed airspace over the area to civilian aircraft after a military jet was shot down.

The Malaysian Airlines plane was supposed to cross the Russian border at around 9:30 Eastern. Ukrainians have published video they say shows the wreckage of the Malaysian Airlines flight.

Multiple media outlets are reporting that another Malaysian Airlines plane has crashed, this time near the Russian boarder in Ukraine. According to Interfax, that’s from a source in the aviation industry. The Boeing 777 reportedly had 280 passengers and 15 crew members on board. The source reported that the plane started to decline before it entered Russian airspace and later was “found burning on the ground in Ukraine.”

A Twitter post from @stockwhisperer states: “the Malaysian airplane was shot down.” The writer offers no indication of a source or anything regarding that statement. Zero Hedge said the same thing, but again, there’s no source. It’s highly unlikely that this is true, if you happen to hear it.
