YouTube these days has become a good pastime, and a source of entertainment for many of us. We can spend hours browsing our favorite videos on this video platform. That cute little grumpy cat, or your favorite music video are a good source of time pass on this video site. But we can’t always be online, and that’s why it is a good idea to save your favorite YouTube videos offline so that you can access it anytime and anywhere.

Now, there are a number of free services and apps that allows you to download videos from YouTube, without delving in deeper in the source code or doing anything “techie.” While there are many ways to do this, let’s take a look at the most easiest way to save videos from YouTube.

Downloading YouTube videos without any extensions

Open the YouTube video that you want to download, and you’ll find its URL will be something like

In this URL, simply add “ss” before “youtube”. The new URL will now look like this:

You might get a security certificate warning. Click on “Proceed anyway.” You’ll now be redirected to a different site from where you’ll need to click on the quality of the video that you want to download. For example; click on MP4 720p. Once you do this, the video will start downloading instantly.

If you don’t want to use the above method, then you can also directly head over to, which as the name suggests, allows you to download videos not just from YouTube but also from several other sites like Dailymotion, Vimeo, Metacafe, Facebook, Soundcloud, etc.

You simply need to add the YouTube video URL to this site and click on the “Download” button.
