The pre-orders of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) Galaxy S5, the Korean company’s fifth generation flagship smartphone have already started, and it can now be pre-ordered on major carriers like AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T), US Cellular and T-Mobile US Inc (NYSE:TMUS). April 11th is the date when the smartphone will be available in the US, and many Android enthusiasts are eagerly waiting to get their hands on it.

First official firmware of Galaxy S5 out now

Now here comes the exciting part. The first official firmware of the Galaxy S5 has been leaked online. This firmware is from the Chinese variant of the SM-G9009D and is based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat, with a build date of 12th March. Hopefully in the coming days we’ll be able to get our hands on firmware of more regions, which advanced users would love to tinker with.

Now that the firmware is available, Android enthusiasts can extract content from it, and hopefully they’ll make it available for older or other Android devices so that everyone can play with it.
