iPhone 6 Screen Glass Photos Leaked [REPORT]

Updated on

The iPhone 6 probably won’t be out for another two or three months, so unfortunately we’re stuck with an endless parade of rumors and photos. This time we have some photos posted by 9to5 Mac. The website’s source claims they show the front display covers for the black and white models of the iPhone 6.

iPhone 6 mockups leaked

We’ve seen numerous photos of supposed iPhone 6 mockups recently, but these photos posted by 9to5 Mac are the first to supposedly show the front display covers of the handset. The person who sent them said they are for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is supposedly also working on an even larger 5.5-inch model as well, although no images of that handset’s display were shared.

The website posted photos of the display cover for the rumored 4.7-inch iPhone 6 next to the display cover for the iPhone 5S, 5C and 5, which were all 4 inches in size. The photos compare the black versions of both models.

What’s new for the iPhone 6?

There’s nothing especially groundbreaking in the images of the display cover. 9to5 Mac reports that since these parts appear to be readily available, the iPhone 6 must be close to mass production, which makes sense because Apple is expected to launch it this fall sometime.

The photos do show a new hole that’s on the left side of the ear speaker. However, we don’t know what that hole is for. It could indicate that the front FaceTime camera will be in a new location or show the placement of a proximity sensor. Also any differences in the parts could be because component production is still in the early stages. 9to5 Mac suggests that some of the parts could have been made earlier than others. The site also notes that the edges of the display covers look slightly curved.

What to expect in the iPhone 6

Of course in addition to having a larger display, Apple is also expected to make the iPhone 6 thinner than the iPhone 5S and possibly use a rounder casing. The company is also expected to use its own next-generation A8 processor and improved sensors. In addition, some have reported that the iPhone 6 will feature image stabilization and possibly a sapphire crystal display cover for the bigger 5.5-inch model.
