Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) recently announced that the Do Not Disturb Bug will probably self-fix by the second week in January. The company shared this message in a service announcement sent on Wednesday.
The Do Not Disturb Bug was found in the iOS 6. It’s feature allows iPhone users to weed out certain calls or alerts with just a flick of the switch. But it remained on as users even as the calendars changed from 2012 to 2013. What this meant for some users is that some of their emails or incoming calls could have went straight to voice mail without alerting the user.
The level of this problem is not as significant as others in the past, but it still remains a nuisance for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) users who expect more. The iPhone has been known for having time and date glitches in the past. Some users have previously complained that their phones are slow to switch to Daylight Savings Time. Fortunately, all that was needed to solve this glitch was a reboot.
Interesting enough, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) started to release television advertisements touting the new Do Not Disturb Feature on the iPhone. Tennis favorites Serena and Venus William star in the ad which shows the sisters playing a game of table tennis against a narrator. The gist of the ad was that iPhone users could relax and do whatever they want (like dream of playing a game against legendary athletes) while keeping the outside world separate.
Apparently, this glitch is one of those bugs that cannot be fixed by a code and is one of those things that will take a little time. What’s more, it’s expected to return again next year. Until then, users will have to turn off their Do Not Disturb feature to ensure they don’t miss a call.
