How To Improve Youtube iOS App Video Quality
Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has recently updated the YouTube app for iOS, and with it comes some much-needed changes. One of the most important features of this new update is that you now have the ability to change the quality of the video. This is, of course, possible by using a web browser, but now the same feature is added to the YouTube app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
What’s worth noting is that this quality selection option will only appear if you’re on WiFi. If you’re on a cellular connection, then YouTube will automatically select the playback quality of the video.
Tips to change Youtube iOS app video quality
First thing that you’ll need to do is to update your YouTube app from the App Store. Once updated, you’ll notice a small button with three vertical dots placed in the top-right corner of the video. Tap on this button when the video is playing, and you’ll get three options: ‘video quality’, ‘closed captioning’, and ‘flag as inappropriate’. The first one, which appears as the gear icon, is used for selecting video quality. Tap on it and then select your preferred video quality.
The Youtube iOS app video quality is set only for the current video, which means if you start playing another video, then you’ll need to set the quality again. For now, there’s no option to set a default quality for all videos. We just hope that YouTube adds such an option in a future update so that we don’t have to select video quality for all videos, individually.
With this new feature, there’s no need to rely on what YouTube detects. Instead, you can set a video quality yourself, but only if you’re on WiFi. Try it out!
