When browsing the Chrome web store, you must have noticed the huge number of extensions that claim to manage tabs in a better way. So why manage tabs anyways? If you’re researching something on the internet, or if you’re one of those users who always has at least five tabs open by default, then it becomes difficult to view your favicons. It’s kind of a mess and then navigating between them becomes very hard. Wouldn’t it be great if you can view tabs in a vertical sidebar in Chrome?
Learn how Veritabs works
That’s exactly what a new Chrome extension called Veritabs does. It creates a list of your currently open tabs and then presents them in a vertical sidebar on Chrome. It only displays the favicons and then the site’s title in the sidebar, with no other graphics or clutter. Let’s learn how Veritabs works.
Head over to the Chrome web store and install Veritabs by clicking on the “Free” button. Once the installation is finished, restart your browser.
Now, when you’re browsing the web and want to switch to a different tab, or simply want to view the list of tabs, then move your mouse to the left hand side and you’ll be able to see a complete list of all your open tabs. This list will disappear when you move your mouse away from it. To switch to a different tab, simply click on the tab’s name/title. To make this sidebar sticky, click on the top-left button, and to open Google in a new tab, click on the + button. Just in case if you want to expand the site’s name, then click on the small dots icon at the top-right and drag it.
By default, the extension will add a sidebar to the left side, but if you prefer the same sidebar in the right side of the screen, then click on the Veritabs button from the toolbar and then click on Settings.
What makes this extension stand out from others is that it works great even in full screen mode. You can press F11 to switch to full screen mode and still have access to the tabs. This is something that’s not possible by default in Chrome.
Go ahead and try out Veritabs if you’re using Chrome. If you like to open many tabs, then it’s worth trying out.
