Over the last few months, I have done many articles on billionaires, including the list of youngest self-made billionaires and cities with most billionaires. But most of us are not billionaires – we only get to talk about them. My curiosity was piqued when I came across a study conducted by British luxury online marketplace HushHush.com. They’ve compiled a list of the most common billionaire baby names for boys and girls.

If you want to give your unborn child a better chance at financial success, you could start by picking a name that is most common among billionaires. Picking a name for the baby is not an easy decision for parents. The name will stay with the child for life. As a parent, you don’t want to pick something that is likely to go out of style in a few years.

HushHush.com hopes its list of the most common billionaire baby names will give parents “some inspiration when it comes to naming their future billionaire baby.” Boys and girls with these names are most likely to become billionaires when they grow up.

To compile the list, HushHush.com analyzed its internal data and publicly available information such as the Sunday Times Rich List. They looked into the names of the world’s top 500 billionaires, as well as the names popular among ultra-wealthy parents in 2019. The list includes the names of business tycoons and tech titans.

The British online marketplace found that out of the top 500 billionaires, there were more men with names starting with the letters I, J, and K than the number of women on the same list. There are 63 women among the top 500 billionaires. By comparison, there are 66 men with names starting with I, J, and K.

  1. John/Jonathan/Jonny

  5. Bill/Billy
  6. Charles/Charlie
  7. Michael/Mike/Mikey
  8. Robert/Robbie
  9. Mohammed
  10. Jim/Jimmy

John, along with its equivalents, appeared 11 times on the top 500 billionaires names. It was closely followed by David with ten appearances. A few billionaires named John are John Mars, John Menard Jr, John Doerr, and John Grayken. The richest person named David is Canada’s David Thompson, who is worth $37.7 billion. The wealthiest person named Thomas is Thomas Peterffy of Interactive Brokers, who is worth $18.3 billion.

For girls

  5. Victoria/Vicky/Tori
  6. Elizabeth/Beth/Lizzie
  7. Abigail/Abby/Abbie
  8. Kim
  9. MacKenzie
  10. Kirsten

French billionaire Marie-Hélène Habert is worth $5.9 billion. The wealthiest person named Judy is Judy Faulkner with a net worth of $3.8 billion. Anna Maria Braun of German medical technology giant B. Braun is worth $1.1 billion. MacKenzie Bezos, the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, is worth $38.4 billion. Abigail Johnson of Fidelity Investments is worth $14.8 billion.

Earlier this year, the British online marketplace released a list of the top millionaire baby names, which showed that kids named Edward, William, Elizabeth, Victoria, Alice, Kate, and Mary were more likely to become millionaires. With these lists of millionaire and billionaire baby names, you wouldn’t want to pick just a regular name for your unborn child.

Only time will tell whether giving your baby one of these names will put them on the path to become financially successful, but the idea of it sure sounds fun.
