Sometimes the developer of an operating system plays hide and seek. They’ll simply hide the option that they don’t want anyone to tinker with, and that’s why such options are only uncovered by advanced users. Since the introduction of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, developer options have been hidden from the Settings menu. Now, if you haven’t got access to this new menu, then it means that you’re missing out a lot of powerful options. For example, if you want to enable USB debugging, then this can be done only from the developer options.

USB debugging is very useful as it allows you to transfer files between your PC and your phone using your USB cable. You’ll also need to enable USB debugging when you want to use Odin and flash ROMs with it. Without using Odin, you won’t be able to install new ROM updates, if there are no OTA (over-the-air) updates. So let’s learn how to enable USB debugging mode on your Samsung Galaxy S5.

Enable USB debugging mode on Samsung Galaxy S5

  • Go to the menu and launch Settings.
  • Tap on “About Device” menu and then tap on “Build Number” 7 times.
  • After tapping it for 7 times, you’ll now get a prompt that says that you’re a developer now.
  • Now go back to the Settings menu and you’ll now be able to view Developer options.
  • From the Developer options, you can tick the box that says USB Debugging.

That’s all you need to do. Now you can access the advanced developer options and enable USB debugging and many other options from there.
