Pakistan has increased security measures, as it braces for mishaps when mass protests flood the streets of the country tomorrow. Reports are saying that mobile phone services in Pakistan, like Warid, Telenor, Ufone, Mobilink, and Zong etc will stay suspended in the major cities, like Lahore and Karachi for the most part of the day on Friday. The expected time of suspension of service will be from 9:00am to 11:00pm.

On a previous occasion, the Pakistani government also barred cell phone services in some regions of the country. According to the interior minister, Rehman Malik, the last decision was made due to terrorist threats.

The present ruling on shutting down mobile service was made during a federal cabinet’s meeting that was presided over by the Prime Minister of the country.

Two people died in the protests carried out in the past week in Pakistan. The military was recruited to quell protesters at the sensitive diplomatic enclave in the country’s capital, Islamabad. The mob clashed in vain for more than three hours, in an attempt to reach the embassies. Security is expected to be on high alert throughout the main cities of the country. All business and public transportation will be suspended for tomorrow as well.
