Mohamed Morsi: Egypt Urges Eyewitnesses To Violence To testify

Egypt’s General Prosecution on Friday urged everyone who witnessed or has information about the Republican Guard violent clashes that broke out last Monday and killed many Mohamed Morsi supporters, to provide their testimonies to aid the prosecution in the ongoing investigations, the state news agency reported.

The clashes which the army said escalated after some pro Mohamed Morsi Muslim Brotherhood supporters had attempted to barge into the Republican Guard headquarters left more than 50 dead.

The Brotherhood and its allies stated that the army shot the demonstrators during the Fajr (dawn) prayers.

The prosecution ordered 206 people pending investigations.

It also ordered the arrest of the Brotherhood’s General Guide Mohamed Badie, deputy head of the Freedom and Justice Party Essam al-Erian and several other prominent Supporters Of Mohamed Morsi.

Tens of thousands of Mohamed Morsi supporters demonstrate in Cairo

Tens of thousands of former president Mohamed Morsi’s supporters rallied in Cairo at Rabaa al-Adaweya Mosque in Nasr City and in Nahda Square in front of Cairo University on Friday.

The demonstrators’ main demand is former president Mohamed Morsi’s return to power.

Buses coming from various governorates transported groups of Mohamed Morsi supporters to Cairo on Friday.

At Rabaa, several marches joined the ongoing sit-in as the masses prepare to break their fast at sunset.

The Muslim Brotherhood and its allies are expected to organise a march from Rabaa to the presidential palace later in the evening.

In Nahda Square, several marches joined the sit-in to demand that Mohamed Morsi assumes power again.

Egypt committed to road map without excluding any faction, hinting to Mohamed Morsi inclusion – ministry

Egypt is keen on achieving national reconciliation and grouping all political powers without excluding any faction or political current, Ambassador Badr Abdel Aati, a Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman, said on Friday.

This statement comes in response to a statement for the German Military of Foreign Affairs spokesman as the latter called on Egypt to prohibit political persecutions and involve all factions in the political process.

The German spokesman also urged leading figures in Egypt’s supporter of Mohamed Morsi to refrain from violence or threats of violence.

Abdel Aati affirmed Egypt’s commitment on implementing the road map which various political powers agreed on, the Middle East News Agency reported.

Hundreds of supporters of former president Mohamed Morsi marched to the Korba area in Cairo where the presidential palace is located, an eyewitness said on Friday.

The demonstrators, coming from the Roxi area, marched near the palace as security forces sealed off the streets surrounding it.

Several supporters of Mohamed Morsi including the Muslim Brotherhood have organised mass demonstrations for Friday to demand Mohamed Morsi’s return to power.

One killed, another injured in attack on police vehicle in Sinai

A police officer was killed and a conscript was injured when masked gunmen attacked a police vehicle in North Sinai’s Arish city on Friday morning, a source at the Interior Ministry said.

Officer Ahmed Mahmoud Abul Enein and conscript al-Sayed Ibrahim al-Gazzar were shot as the gunmen fired a rocket-propelled grenade at them, the source said in a statement on Facebook.

The two were transported to Cairo in a military aircraft and the injured policeman was transferred to a military hospital for treatment.

A military funeral will be held for Abul Enein in his hometown in Daqahliya’s Menyat al-Nasr.

Security forces intensified their efforts to locate and arrest the perpetrators.
