Another prosecutor had ordered that Badie be detained for 30 days for investigations into violent confrontations that happened in July and violence that took place at the end of last year.

Security forces arrested Badie from an apartment in Nasr City, Egypt on Tuesday and investigations in the allegations brought against him began on Wednesday.

Sinai television building attacked by armed men

Gunmen attacked North Sinai’s television building early on Thursday and exchanged fire with security forces in Egypt.

Eyewitnesses said that the assailants hid in nearby residences and fired shots on the building, targeting security personnel.

The attack destroyed the front gate of the building and a disputed number of injuries was reported.

In similar news, another group of gunmen attacked a checkpoint in North Sinai, Egypt with RPGs late on Wednesday while security forces have launched a few attacks on the Rafah border on tunnels that were being used to smuggle goods to Gaza.
