The International Monetary Fund has recently updated its Growth Tracker, which displays global economic trends. In the below chart, blue is good and red and yellow are bad.

The U.S. has been Above Trend and Rising for longer than any other nation shown here, a very optimistic outlook. Most of Europe has been contracting for the past couple of years, but recently has returned to positive growth. To be clear though, growth in Europe also accelerated in 2009 when the recession “ended” the first time.
