Google Now Launcher Released On Play Store

Updated on

One of the unique feature of the Nexus 5 is that it comes with a custom launcher that we’ve never seen on any Nexus devices so far. When the Nexus 5 was launched, everyone hoped that one day they would be able to see the same launcher on Play Store. Well, that’s exactly what has happened today.

Google Now launcher now available on Play Store

Google Now launcher is now available on the Play Store for download, but there’s a catch. You’ll be able to install it only if you’re on a Nexus device, or any one of the Google Play Edition handsets that have recently became popular among enthusiasts. If you’ve got any other device apart from these two, then you’re out of luck, unfortunately.

This launcher gives you some very useful Google Now-centric features. For example, you can swipe up to bring up Google Now, from where you can you can do variety of tasks such as looking at weather, sports score, reminder and more. You can also speak “OK Google” right from your home screen to start a voice search, without typing anything manually.

Other improvements include faster search, easier access to your favorite Google products and services, large viewing area as the status and navigation bars are now translucent, and intuitive wallpaper picker.

So if you want to get your hands on Google Now Launcher, then simply head over to the Play Store, and install it. As always, this too is a free app. Note that you’ll need to be on a Nexus or Google Play Edition device, with Android 4.4 KitKat to install this app. This means that you can install it on Nexus 4, Nexus 7, and other Google Play Edition devices like HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4.
We just hope that Google makes it available for any devices running on Android KitKat in the future.
