FBN’s Lou Dobbs Tonight Continues Reign as Number One in Business News while “Varney & Co” Continues as Top Market Program on Television

FOX Business Network (FBN) continued its winning streak over CNBC, sweeping the network across Business Day and Market Hours day parts during the week of June 4th – June 8th, according to Nielsen Media Research.
As markets reacted to mounting international trade tensions and the lead up to the G7 Summit and historic meeting between the United States and North Korea, FBN’s Business Day coverage saw a 40 percent advantage over rival CNBC’s with 208,000 total viewers compared to 149,000 for the week, and a 3 percent advantage in the A25-54 demo with 30,000 viewers compared to CNBC’s 29,000 for the week.
FBN also overtook CNBC in the crucial market hour daypart (9:30AM-4PM), delivering 207,000 viewers compared to CNBC’s 154,000 this week, as well as 31,000 viewers in the demo compared to CNBC’s 30,000. This was FBN’s fifth full sweep over CNBC in both total viewers and the 25-54 demo this year.
Marking 55 consecutive weeks as the most-watched market-open program on television, “Varney & Co” (weekdays, 9AM-12PM/ET) trounced its CNBC competition with 252,000 total viewers compared to 165,000, and delivered 45,000 in the demo compared to CNBC’s 33,000. Along with Varney, all of FBN’s core Business Day programs dominated their timeslot in total viewers, with CAVUTO Coast to Coast (12-2PM/ET), The Intelligence Report with Trish Regan (2-3PM/ET), Countdown to the Closing Bell with Liz Claman (3-4PM/ET), and After the Bell (4-5PM/ET) all ranking among the top eight most watched programs of the week.
Continuing its reign as the leader in business news, Lou Dobbs Tonight (7-8PM/ET) once again delivered the number one rated program in business television with 304,000 total viewers. Additionally, FBN’s post-market programs The Evening Edit with Elizabeth MacDonald (5-6PM/ET) and Making Money with Charles Payne (6-7PM/ET) both outpaced their CNBC competition in total viewers for the week.
