Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) and SpaceX CEO, Elon Musk, tweeted Monday that he is apparently COVID-19-positive. According to the post, he is feeling well and is having only mild symptoms.

A Second Time

According to the tweet, quoted by CNN Business, the tech billionaire said, “[I] supposedly have it again (sigh), but almost no symptoms.” This is the second time it is reported that Musk has contracted the virus.

In November 2020, he tested positive for the virus, which led him to isolate during a SpaceX rocket launch to the International Space Station with four astronauts on board.

Elon Musk has voiced his concerns about the governments’ handling of the pandemic ever since the virus was discovered. Also, although he says that shots should not be obligatory, he supports vaccination and believes in the science behind it.

In April last year, he tweeted, “To be clear, I do support vaccines in general and Covid vaccines specifically. The science is unequivocal.”

According to the billionaire himself, he and his family are vaccinated. He disclosed this information to Time magazine in an interview after being named Person of the Year in 2021.

Changing Stance

However, Elon Musk had always been suspicious of the capacity of vaccines to combat COVID-19.

The founder of Tesla told The New York Times in September 2020 that neither he nor his family would get the shot: “I am not at risk of contracting COVID, nor are my children.”

In March 2021, he questioned the safety of the second dose on his Twitter account: “Surely the elderly or immunosuppressed should take the vaccine. Some debate about the second jab though. Quite a few negative reactions to that.”

The tweet from the following month showed how he had changed his mind by adding: “In very rare cases, there is an allergic reaction, but this is easily fixed with an EpiPen.”

When the pandemic broke out, the billionaire was one who played down Covid, as his prediction for the month of March 2020 was: “Based on current trends, probably close to zero new cases also in the US by the end of April.”
