“European markets had a slow start to the week after a wave of positive announcements last Friday across key corporate earnings and economic growth. Despite the inflation and energy crisis, the Eurozone economy grew 0.7% in the second quarter, beating expectations of a 0.2% growth.

The numbers are a strong contrast to the US which entered into recession as it recorded a second successive decline in GDP. The US economic decline is largely in part of decreasing inventories, slowdown in investments and reduced government spending at both the state and the federal level. Tech stocks emerged victorious this quarter, led by solid results from heavyweights including Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA), and Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL), while Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META) declined.

Apple and Amazon are appearing to be resilient businesses to invest in, with the former’s business interests threatening Meta.

The big economic focus for this week will be the monthly U.S. jobs report on Friday.”
