OnePlus 7 Series Launch Event Start Time, How To Watch

Updated on

After months of teasers, leaks, and rumors, OnePlus is all set to unveil its much-hyped OnePlus 7 series of phones on Tuesday, May 14. Unlike other vendors that like to keep their upcoming products under wraps, OnePlus ran full-page newspaper ads in the US and collaborated with leading magazines for cover photoshoots to highlight the camera capabilities of its upcoming flagship. If you are a OnePlus fan or looking to buy the new phone, here’s all you need to know about the OnePlus 7 series launch.

It’s no secret that the Chinese company is going to launch at least two phones at the event. One of them will be a standard OnePlus 7 and another will be OnePlus 7 Pro that would compete with the best of Samsung and Apple. There is also said to be a 5G variant of OnePlus 7 Pro. However, the Chinese company has so far focused all its marketing efforts on the OnePlus 7 Pro.

OnePlus 7 series launch: When and where?

The Chinese company is going to hold simultaneous launch events in New York City, London, and Bengaluru. For fans who wanted to attend one of these events live, OnePlus was selling tickets last month. The tickets were sold out within a week. It has already started accepting pre-bookings for OnePlus 7 Pro in India via Amazon India.

The New York event will take place at the Pier 94 at 11 AM EDT. The London event will be held at the Printworks London starting at 4 PM BST. The Bengaluru event is taking place at 8:15 PM IST at the Bangalore International Exhibition Center.

The event is expected to last about an hour, unless OnePlus decides to launch more products at the same event.

How to watch the livestream

OnePlus has built a loyal community of fans around the world. But not everyone could buy tickets to attend the OnePlus 7 series launch event in person. The company will live stream the event for its fans around the world. You can watch the livestream on its official website right from the comfort of your home or office when it goes live.

OnePlus will also live stream the OnePlus 7 series launch on its YouTube channel and Facebook page.

OnePlus 7 Pro specs

Almost all details of the flagship OnePlus 7 Pro have leaked ahead of the unveiling. German publication WinFuture has revealed the phone’s specifications. It would sport a 6.67-inch Fluid AMOLED display with 1440 x 3120 pixels resolution. It would sport an in-display fingerprint sensor for authentication and security. It would offer a 90Hz refresh rate to enhance the gaming and video watching experience.

The OnePlus 7 Pro will have a notch-less and bezel-less design as the company has used a pop-up mechanism to accommodate the selfie camera. It would sport a triple camera setup on the back, consisting of a 48MP primary lens, a 16MP wide-angle lens, and an 8MP telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom. For selfies, it would sport a 16MP pop-up selfie camera.

The base model would offer 6GB RAM and 128GB storage and will be available in Mirror Gray color. The 8GB+256GB version is said to come in Mirror Gray, Almond, and Nebula Blue colors. The top of the line 12GB+256GB version will come in Nebula Blue color. The OnePlus 7 series will be the world’s first smartphone to offer the UFS 3.0 storage.

The device would run Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 processor paired with Adreno 640 graphics processor. It is said to pack a 4,000mAh battery with Warp Charge 30 charging technology. It would run the company’s custom OxygenOS skin on top of Android 9 Pie.

The 5G version of OnePlus 7 Pro will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X50 modem for 5G connectivity. OnePlus has partnered with EE in the UK to sell its 5G phone. It’s unclear whether the 5G model will be coming to the US as well.

OnePlus 7 specs

Unlike the Pro variant, the standard OnePlus 7 will be a minor upgrade over last year’s OnePlus 6T. It will cater to price-conscious buyers who can’t afford the Pro model. It will have a waterdrop notch similar to OnePlus 6T to accommodate the selfie camera. The OnePlus 7’s display will have a convention 60Hz refresh rate rather than 90Hz.

The device will retain the optical in-display fingerprint sensor and run the same Snapdragon 855 processor as its more expensive sibling. It would offer up to 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Unlike OnePlus 7 Pro, the standard version would feature only a dual camera setup consisting of a 48MP primary lens and an 8MP depth sensor.

How much will the new phones cost?

OnePlus has been increasing the prices of its flagship phones with each new model. So, you can expect the standard OnePlus 7 to be more expensive than OnePlus 6T. It is expected to start at $550 for the base model. The OnePlus 7 Pro will breach the premium territory in terms of pricing.

According to WinFuture, the OnePlus 7 Pro would cost €700 for the 6GB+128GB model in European markets. The 8GB+256GB version will set you back by €750. The 12GB+256GB model is going to cost €820. In India, it would start at ₹50,000 for the base model, ₹53,000 for the 8GB+256GB variant, and ₹58,000 for the 12GB+256GB model. People who can’t afford the Pro model could opt for the cheaper OnePlus 7.

T-Mobile announced last week that it would start selling the OnePlus 7 Pro on May 17 in the United States. There was no word on the availability of the regular OnePlus 7 or the 5G model.
