This Gold Apple Watch Series 4 Is Only For The Rich

Updated on

The Apple Watch Series 4 is pretty expensive. It starts at $399 for the GPS model and $499 for the GPS + Cellular version. Despite its high cost, a lot of people could afford to buy the new Watch and point to the spec bump and health features to justify the price tag. But if you are someone with incredibly deep pockets, the Apple Watch Series 4 must sound cheap for your taste. In that case, you can look for the ultra-luxury Lux Watch 4.

Lux Watch 4: Exclusively for the ultra-rich

Apple had tried to tap into the ultra-luxury segment with the Gold Apple Watch Edition costing $10,000, but discontinued the product later due to poor sales. Not everyone would want to spend $10,000 on a watch that would become outdated in a couple of years. But luxury accessories maker Brikk knows that at least some people would want to buy ridiculously expensive stuff just because they can afford it.

Brikk has announced Lux Watch 4, an ultra-luxury version of Apple Watch Series 4, designed exclusively for the ultra-rich. And they are going to cost much higher than your regular Apple Watch because they are lavished on 18K gold, diamond, and other precious gemstones.

Brikk takes the regular Apple Watch Series 4, strips out the band and casing, and uses its own cases and bands to give them an ultra-premium feel. The device will have the same features and specs as the Series 4 Watch and its health features would work exactly as intended. Brikk claims the Lux Watch 4 is the outcome of five years of R&D. It will be available in a variety of materials.

So, how much does it cost? The Lux Watch 4 Classic will use 18K gold and will be available in yellow, rose and white gold. It will also have an alligator strap. That’s the cheapest version and it’s going to cost $28,995.

If you want to splurge a little more, you can choose the Lux Watch 4 Classic with 18K gold beveled module bracelet. It costs a decent $58,995.

Then there is the Lux Watch 4 Deluxe with two rows of diamonds or emeralds. It is priced between $43,995 and $73,995. Higher up the ladder is the Lux Watch 4 Omni that is fully encrusted with emerald, baguette or square-step cut diamonds. The Omni is going to cost between $68,995 and $228,995.

If the Omni version still sounds cheap, Brikk offers to customize a Lux Apple Watch with red emeralds, violet and blue diamonds. These are going to cost you more than a million dollars depending on the jewels used. If you want luxury AirPods to go with your Lux Watch 4, Brikk sells gold AirPods for $10,000.

Brikk won’t take orders from just anyone. The company said it was accepting orders only from its existing customers. The Lux Watches will become available just in time for the holidays.

Apple Watch Series 4 features and specs

The Apple Watch Series 4 comes in 40mm and 44mm size with thinner bezels, making the screen 30% bigger than Series 3. They are powered by Apple’s S4 64-bit dual-core processor that is said to be twice as fast as its predecessor. The new Watch also includes advanced gyroscope and accelerometer to support health and fitness features. The Series 4 Watch has roughly the same battery life as last year’s Series 3.

Apple claims the speaker on the Series 4 Watch is 50% louder than Series 3. The speaker is optimized for Siri, phone calls, and Walkie-Talkie. The tech giant has also relocated the microphone to the right side (near the Digital Crown) to reduce echo and produce better sound. The Digital Crown supports haptic feedback. The Series 4 Watch runs watchOS 5 out of the box.

The biggest highlights of the Apple Watch Series 4 are the Fall Detection and ECG features. The Fall Detection feature can detect when you had a hard fall and serve you a notification that you can use to call 911 or dismiss it. If you are immobile for 60 seconds, the Watch will automatically call 911 and notify your emergency contacts, and share your location with them. The Electrocardiogram (ECG) app can detect if your heart is beating normally or showing any symptoms of Atrial Fibrillation (AFib).
