New Game Of Thrones Season 8 Rumors Surface Online

Updated on

Game of Thrones has always been a series cherished by fantasy fans, but when HBO adapted George R.R. Martin’s intricate world into a big budget television production, Westeros and its inhabitants took the world by storm. Exciting new Game of Thrones rumors have recently surfaced, giving some key insights into what we might see in the coming season. WARNING: If these rumors are true, this article does contain mild spoilers about the upcoming season.

Each season of Game of Thrones has grown in scale, moving from humble origins to the culmination of literal years of twists and turns and political intrigue as multiple parties vie for power. Winter is no longer coming — it has arrived, and the White Walkers pose a serious threat that could take over the world.

Speaking of White Walkers, actors wielding spears tipped with Dragonglass have been spotted alongside expanded sets for Winterfell that are currently being constructed in Ireland. Dragonglass, which Jon Snow spent the end of last season mining underneath the castle Dragonstone with the permission of Daenerys, is the only material that can kill the White Walkers.

Daenerys’ alliance with Jon Snow has created a large army that is currently putting aside their differences to deal with the incoming threat, but it may still not be enough — especially considering Cersei’s plans to stay on the offensive. A gigantic army can still fall apart if it’s fighting a war on two fronts, and the reigning Lannister is raring to take advantage of any opportunity to further solidify her status as queen.

The fact that soldiers around Winterfell are wielding these Dragonglass spears would seem to suggest that we could see a siege of the Starks’ land by the White Walkers at some point during the upcoming season. This would make sense, considering Winterfell is pretty far North and the White Walker horde is quickly advancing south.

If Winterfell were to fall, the White Walkers would quickly pour into the rest of the continent and the demise of many more strongholds would be soon to follow. Hopefully these Dragonglass-wielding warriors can hold out against a near unstoppable horde. The weapons are brutally effective against this threat, but the sheer amount of Walkers may very well overwhelm the defending forces.

Whether these new Game of Thrones rumors are true and what the outcome of this supposed siege will be remains to be seen, but it seems that winter has definitely arrived in Westeros and it shows no sign of slowing down.
