BMW X7 Concept Leaked Ahead Of Frankfurt Auto Show

Updated on

Go big or go home right? Well, clearly BMW has decided to go big with the new BMW X7 concept. The cat was let out of the bag when photos of BMW’s concept SUV were leaked online at Bimmerpost. The reaction on the BMW fan forum was… Not good. Now, keep in mind, these are people who are used to luxury sedans and performance cars. A 3 row SUV is not really the typical offering from BMW. Can the BMW X7 be a hit with SUV buyers?

The interior of the BMW X7 is certainly a modern design. It’s not quite at the level of Tesla with with minimalist Model 3 interior, but it’s a nice middle ground between that and the typical vehicle interior we see today. It is quite noticeable that there seems to be a lot of detail in the design. Sometimes with these concept vehicles we see some interesting features that would never get incorporated into a vehicle any time soon. The BMW X7 concept seems to be more realistic than other concept designs which suggests the actual production model may not be far off.

The technology-focused dashboard isn’t the only place we see some Tesla inspiration in the BMW X7. The windshield has that extended Tesla-like appearance. There is a lot of glass on the BMW X7, giving the vehicle a very open feel. Of course, if you live in an area where hail storms are common, this could prove to be a problem. That’s what we buy insurance for, right?

The displays and sleek design throughout the interior make it clear that BMW wants to take direct aim at the luxury full-size SUV market. This segment is where you find vehicles like the Nissan Armada and GMC Yukon XL. Basically, the BMW X7 is aimed at those who need mini van seating but aren’t ready to throw in the towel and actually get a mini van.

The exterior of the BMW X7 concept is pretty bold and aggressive. The lines are sharp and some of the details like the grille make it known that the BMW X7 is not just some other SUV. The leaked images didn’t accompany any specs but we have to imagine BMW will also put some emphasis on performance. This SUV likely won’t break any records at your local drag strip but I imagine it will have a little more jump than the other competitors in its segment. Having a big vehicle doesn’t mean you have to go slow.

We can also see a charging port on the driver’s side of the vehicle which tells us this vehicle will likely be a hybrid or at least come with a hybrid option. Now you can drive a big SUV without the guilty feeling of guzzling gas as you run errands!

We shouldn’t have to wait much longer for an official look from BMW at the new X7 concept. Hopefully they will provide more details about the vehicle during their reveal at the Frankfurt Auto Show which begins on September 14th. Obviously this is still a concept vehicle and a lot could change but it would be nice to know the vision they have for the vehicle under the hood. After all, that’s one of the main reasons people opt for the BMW badge, right?

What do you think of the BMW X7? Ugly or awesome?
