In recent weeks, New York has been something of an exit hotspot. Moat, an adtech company that had raised $68 million in VC funding, was acquired by Oracle last week in a deal reportedly valued at nearly $1 billion. And on April 13, enterprise tech startup Yext (NYSE: YEXT) began trading publicly after previously raising about $116 million in VC during its 11-year history.

News of those big exits put us in a New York state of mind—and made us curious about the firms trying to get in on the ground floor of the next Moat or Yext. Since the beginning of 2014, 786 VCs have invested about $1.2 billion in seed funding for companies headquartered in New York, according to the PitchBook Platform. Most of that funding (57%) has gone to IT companies, with B2C businesses coming in second (26%).
