The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are finally here. Apple has started accepting pre-orders for the “best, most advanced iPhone ever.’ The Cupertino company has introduced the new iPhones in Jet Black and Black color options, besides the tried and tested Rose Gold, Gold and Silver colors. If you are looking to pre-order an iPhone 7 or Plus, and have a special interest in the Jet Black and Black color, you may want to know how they differ.
Jet Black iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will get scratches
On the surface, the standard Black version looks like a darker Space Gray. It has the same matte metal finish as the Silver, Rose Gold, and Gold colors. Jet Black is equally tough and resistant as the standard Black model. However, it is entirely different. Apple points out that the Jet Black version has a high gloss appearance, which is achieved by running the phone through a nine-step process to anodize and polish it.
Jet Black has a reflective finish, but the standard Black has diffused reflections. You may want to consider this before buying the Jet Black version: its shiny finish means it will start showing “fine micro-abrasions” over time with normal usage. The Black color with its matte finish should be able to withstand scratches much better. If you want to avoid scratches, you may want to go with the Black version.
