Details are a bit scarce but it’s believed that the police responded to what was deemed a “suspicious situation.”
Spokesman Alfred Ellwanger gave few details but told reporters that there is an ongoing operation to search the area where buses pull up to the airport’s main terminal as well.
Asked if the situation involved a threat to the airport, Ellwanger said, “it’s too early to say.”
So far, now flights have been affected.
One Dutch television station is also saying that two arrests were made at Leiden CS railway station.

According to my friend’s daughter who is on the phone in the above photo sending her father a message in Chicago. The incident began about 9:40 PM local time when police and fire personnel were called to the airport and began evacuating the plaza inside of the airport as well as a train station and bus station outside. Once the evacuation was complete each of the three areas was cordoned off to keep people from entering.
Our source tells us that they were no less than 1,000 people evacuated from the plaza inside alone.
Reports suggest that a suspicious package caused the evacuation and a bomb disposal robot was quickly on the scene.
