The Bexar County Sheriff as well as KSAT News12 in San Antonio are both now reporting two dead and that the shooter is still active.

UPDATE: 10:53 EDT

A number of local news outlets are speculating that this is likely a murder/suicide, but the air force base remains on lock-down and helicopters are still in the air above, no word as to how many are news choppers and how many are police helicopters.

It appears that this is indeed a murder/suicide and that there is no longer an active shooter situation.

To look at the news coverage and the amount of law enforcement personnel on the scene, it may seem a bit much but in 2009 just a few miles up the road,  Nidal Hasan, a U.S. Army major and psychiatrist, fatally shot 13 people and injured more than 30 others.

So the response to today’s shooting certainly has merit given the proximity between the two bases.
