Apple’s brand new iPhone 6S has failed to escape the tradition. Last year, the iPhone 6 Plus users complained of the devices bending in their pockets. This year, the iOS 9 rollout was marred by battery problems, Slide to Upgrade bug, and crashing. Apparently, some iPhone 6S Plus users took on Reddit to report overheating issues with the new device.

The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus went for sale just a few days ago. So, more users may report similar issues as they try out and share their experiences. Reddit user bcarp914 said the overheating issue appeared out of the blue. When the Reddit user opened the camera app to take pictures, a warning popped up, “Flash is disabled. The iPhone needs to cool down before you can use the flash.” The Reddit user added that the iPhone 6S Plus was “the warmest to touch of all the iPhones I’ve owned.” Some comments in the Reddit thread suggested that it could be due to background apps such as Facebook, which suck a lot of battery power.
iPhone 6S running hotter than last year’s iPhones
Some other users said they experienced similar issues while setting up the new iPhone and syncing with iCloud, but not after that was done. It comes as several reports suggested that the iPhone 6S reached temperatures of 102 degrees Fahrenheit, compared to just 90 degrees for the last year’s iPhone 6. The new iPhones are powered by the A9 processor, and benchmark results show that it is a beast of a smartphone.
The extra processing power could also be the reason behind the new iPhone 6S running hotter than last year’s iPhones. The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus went for sale in 12 countries, including China, on Sept.25.
