The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt sold a total of over 4 million copies and topped the game charts last month. The most incredible thing about the particular game is that it only had 12 days to reach top spot and it did. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt game is available on PlayStation 4. Xbox One, and PC.
Witcher 3 takes the lead for May’s top games
Other top selling games on the list include Mortal Kombat X (number 2), Grand Theft Auto V (number 3), and Minecraft (number 4). Last month’s game sale report shown a drop in software sales by 13 percent, a number comparable to May 2014. NPD reports launches last month sold 55% less than launches from the year prior. Surprisingly, catalog games outside from the launch month sold 3 percent more than it did May 2015.
The NPD report added:
“Despite poor comparisons to May 2014 releases, eighth generation consoles software unit sales rose 8 percent in May 2015, and also gained 15 percentage points in overall software unit share to total 54 percent.”
Although most gamers love The Witcher 3, not everyone is singing the games praises. One reviewer from Engadget recently shared his thoughts on the new title and what keeps him from enjoying the game. He explained he had technical issues with the Xbox edition from the start.
One gamer’s problem with the game
Engadget writer Timothy J. Seppala explained his issues started when he download the two-step code to pre-load the game. Seppala claimed this method previously worked without any issues, but his Xbox kept telling him he was trying to open the game too soon. Instead of launching the game right from the dashboard, he was required to load it through the game hub.
Another more pressing issue with the game was that it wouldn’t load or save right. His character died in the game, and he had to reload the last save. As he tried to reload the game, it froze and prompted him to have to quit the game. After he tried to reset the game, that didn’t work either. After taking more efforts to correct the issue, he posted a video showing the problem on Facebook. He was contacted by a publicist who gave him the solution to fixing the problem. The solution worked, but he forgot to save his progress and gave up.
