On the DuPont Peltz proxy battle:

“This is what Nelson Peltz is telling people on the eve of this shareholder vote that comes tomorrow, that he’s increasingly pessimistic about winning the four board seats. What he is saying is the best he thinks he’s going to do is at least one and one will be him. So this is coming from Nelson Peltz himself. He’s saying that he’s increasingly pessimistic about winning this very closely watched proxy battle between DuPont and Peltz’s Trian Fund.  They own a major stake in DuPont, they want to shake things up, they want four board seats. Three of their people including Nelson Peltz himself, but what he is telling people is that he doesn’t think they are going to win tomorrow. He thinks the main reason they aren’t going to win is because the index funds which own a fairly substantial chunk of DuPont that they’re likely to vote against him.”
