HTC One M9+ Debuts With Android 5.0

HTC debuted the new HTC One M9+ as a bigger and better smartphone. The phone is essentially a larger version of the M9, and it comes with many special features.

The M9+ features a 5.2-inch display with quad-HD resolution. It also comes with a 20MP camera complete with a secondary sensor and an ultra-pixel front-facing camera. The rear camera depth sensor is quite an interesting addition to the device, considering HTC claimed the same results also work with the software. This reason explains why the original M9 never came with the sensor. It also features a fingerprint scanner for mobile payments.

HTC One M9+ upgraded with new chipset

The device runs on an octa-core 64-bit 2.2GHz MediaTek chip instead of the usual Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. This model features 3GB of RAM and a 2840mAh battery like the original HTC One M9, but the similarities end there.

As for the physical features of the new phone, the One 9+ won’t feature a dual-tone finish like the original. Instead, it boasts an all-metal chassis in a single color. Unfortunately, the HTC One 9+ is limited to the Chinese market. The phone’s price and release date are still unknown.

HTC aims to compete with Android rivals

HTC’s new Android-based smartphone was designed to compete against other popular smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy line and LG phones. The three brands make the most high-end Android smartphones on the market and perpetuate the rivalry between Android and Apple, the maker of the iPhone.

Android 5.0 (also known as Lollipop) runs on more than just smartphones and tablets. It also runs on smartwatches and cars. Highlights of the operating system include an improved intuitive design, better setting adjustments, battery power adjustment settings and Android Smart Lock. The latter was designed to secure phones and tablets by allowing users to pair devices with their other devices such as a car or watch. The new operating system offers a ton of possibilities.
