In September last year, the iPhone 6 Plus was surrounded with the notorious bendgate issue. Users from around the world went crazy watching a few videos showing how easily the new iPhones could bend. The issue died down in a few weeks. But it did raise concerns among the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus users. People started looking for cases and other accessories that could prevent the phone from bending.
iPhone 6, 6 Plus users rejoice
Now, South Korean company Patchworks has developed a new screen protector called the ITG Edge to prevent the smartphone display against any damage. Patchworks showcased its new products at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015. How does the ITG Edge make your iPhone durable, sturdy and scratch-resistant? By adding some more glass.

The screen protector is just 0.4mm thick. It is made up of tempered glass, which covers the device from the top as well as on the edges. It has liquid silicon on the edges to make sure that it fits perfectly on your iPhone 6 or 6 Plus. Tests revealed that it improved the phone’s durability by 45%. The 0.4mm screen protector is capable of withstanding pressure because it is made from ITG glass, which has the maximum level of hardness.
ITG Edge can withstand even knife marks
Its hardness ensures that scratches don’t occur as the glass can withstand even key scratches and knife marks. Just 11g of tempered glass is enough to guard against any bendgate-like issue. What’s more, the screen protector is pretty smooth to touch. So, it doesn’t diminish the feel of the smartphone. Patchworks also expected to release the product for popular Android smartphones as well, besides the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
Patchworks has priced the ITG Edge for iPhone 6 at $39 and $45 for the iPhone 6 Plus. The company has sold more than 1.2 million screen protectors in Japan. Apple eventually admitted that its devices could bend.
